cool stuff for Windows PCs. Careful what you
download, they
tend to hide the free stuff these days in hopes you'll select their
"pay-me" versions.
Brief descriptions of my favorite free
downloads:
Audio Stuff Folder:
WinAmp
5 - Greatest audio player
...almost any audio file, now adds streaming audio and video. note:
watch out for adult content video...it can be filtered through media
library preferences.
Streamripper
for - Works with WinAmp to let you record Streamcast stream
and save them
to your PC.
Audacity
- Audio editor and with Lame
plug-in
included mp3 editing.
Web Browser Stuff Folder:
Ad-Aware
- Scans PC for adware and spyware than removes them.
AVG
- Grisoft's Antivirus Guard. Free version now with auto-updating
features. Look closely for free version.
CCleaner
- Quickly removes temp files, cookies and
more crap. Blows disk cleanup away. Note: If you are a
fan of the Recycle Bin retain the function by unchecking Recycle Bin in
the Remove
options list.
CWShreader
- Removes the pest Cool Web program for good.
Firefox
- The web browser that smacks IE like a punk. 1.06 is the
latest. Go to Mozilla
web site for more info on plug ins.
Hijack
This - Sort of a scanner that
reads your registry, creates a file that you send
to white hats for help. Registry entries of spyware go to hell.

Search And Destroy -
What Ad-Aware doesn't kill...Spybot
destroys. Use them both together.
Thunderbird
- Who needs Outlook to read pop3 mail. Less vulnerable.
Zone
Alarm Personal - Latest version
of the well-hidden, free firewall. Try under link to Home/Office
Products.

Filezilla
- FTP program. Love this file transfer
speedster with its multi-site manager. Packaged as a zip file.
Nvu
- The Navigator based html and wysiwig editor that created
this page.
EyeDropper
- Picks out any color from your screen.
Windows XP Utilities Folder
Belarc
Adviser - Quickly
scans PC and generates a savable
dynamic page on your hardware and software plus so much more. Great for
identifying programs you didn't know were on your machine.
Clipboard
Buddy - Supercharged clipboard
that lets you add and retrieve multiple URLs, text and images. You

CAM
Unzip - Free zip program not as
powerful as winzip but easier to use.

Magical Jelly
Bean Keyfinder - Retrieves your
Product Key (cd key) used to
install windows from your registry.
Password
Safe - One password can

your growing list of passwords. You can make many lists or retain
all passwords in one list. Even if you
can't see creating a password protected password list, Password Safe
has a

- Alternate to Microsoft's Office.
Picasa is software that helps you instantly find, edit and
share all the pictures on your PC.

free and fast way to view graphics.
